FTCCI conference urges MSMEs to adopt energy efficiency and future technologies

Hyderabad, October 8, 2026: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) held a conference on “Cost Optimisation & Future Energy Technologies for MSMEs” at the FTCCI Surana Auditorium in Hyderabad, focusing on strategies to reduce energy costs and enhance competitiveness for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The event brought together industry leaders, MSME entrepreneurs, policymakers, financial institutions and energy experts to discuss energy audits, renewable energy adoption, smart energy management, and green financing as ways to lower costs and improve efficiency.

Industry leaders highlight MSME challenges

FTCCI President K. K. Maheshwari said MSME competitiveness depends on efficient production, cost management, resource use and adaptability to changing business conditions. He noted that rising energy costs, sustainability expectations, new technologies and environmental responsibility present both challenges and opportunities for MSMEs. Maheshwari emphasised the role of industry associations like FTCCI in connecting policy, finance, technology and industry needs to support MSMEs in their energy transition.

Sushil Kumar Sancheti, Chair of FTCCI’s Energy Committee, pointed out that MSMEs contribute about 30% of India’s GDP and 48% of exports, and are major employment generators. He said there is significant potential to improve efficiency and productivity through energy-saving measures, but adoption rates remain low. Sancheti highlighted that with MSMEs often operating on slim profit margins of 5–10%, energy efficiency can directly boost profitability, though awareness, affordability and payback periods are key factors for adoption.

Sessions on audits, financing and technologies

The conference included sessions on “Energy Audit & Cost Reduction Strategies for MSMEs” by Vinod Kumar, Deputy Director, National Productivity Council (NPC), Government of India; “Financing Energy Efficiency & Sustainable Growth – SIDBI Support for MSMEs” by Sudha Bandaru¬palli, Assistant General Manager, SIDBI, Jeedimetla Branch Office; and “Future Energy Technologies, Renewable Energy & Smart Energy Management” by Tarun Dixit, Managing Director, Kehansri Technologies and Services Pvt. Ltd.
