Hyderabad, October 8, 2026: The 6th Annual BioAgri Industry Summit, BIOAGRI 2026, opened on Wednesday at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, bringing together 400 registered delegates from across India to discuss the future of sustainable biological agriculture. The event was inaugurated by Dr. J.P. Singh, former Plant Protection Advisor to the Government of India, who served as chief guest.
The conference, organised by the BioAgri Input Producers Association (BIPA), is themed “Biological Intelligence & Smart Agriculture” and aims to highlight the integration of biological solutions, scientific research, and smart technologies in Indian farming. BIOAGRI 2026 features participation from industry leaders, scientists, researchers, startups, policymakers, regulators, and technology companies.
Industry participation and exhibition
Manufacturers of biopesticides, biofertilizers, biostimulants, pheromones, and other biological agricultural inputs are taking part, alongside digital technology platforms and equipment suppliers. The accompanying exhibition includes more than 35 exhibitors showcasing products, technologies, and solutions for sustainable agriculture.
BIPA, which represents over 100 industry members, is one of India’s oldest registered associations dedicated to biological agriculture. The summit has grown into a significant national platform for the sector, facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration across the agricultural value chain.
Technical sessions and panel discussions
The opening day featured technical sessions on investment and business opportunities in agri-biologicals, climate-action finance, carbon credits, the evolving biological market, regenerative transition, and the use of microbes for extracting precious metals. A CEO panel addressed topics such as commercial scaling, quality assurance, microbial stability, regulatory pathways, R&D partnerships, policy incentives, and export market preparedness.
A dedicated session on soil health explored the transition from soil fertility to “soil intelligence,” including soil nutrition, mycorrhizal applications, biomass, biochar, and carbon credits. The afternoon programme focused on technology opportunities for the bioag industry, with discussions on academia-industry collaboration, phytosanitary research, startup technologies, biological products, market outreach, and scientific contributions.
BIPA Startup Challenge and awards
A major highlight of BIOAGRI 2026 is the BIPA Startup Challenge 2026, a competition for early-stage companies developing innovative solutions in biological agriculture. Selected startups are pitching their ideas before a panel of industry leaders, investors, and researchers, aiming for visibility and potential industry connections.
The first day concluded with an award ceremony recognising achievements across industry, academia, and the startup ecosystem, and provided networking opportunities for participants.
Hyderabad’s role in agricultural innovation
BIOAGRI 2026 reinforces Hyderabad’s position as a destination for knowledge-driven industry conferences, innovation, and agricultural technology. The summit aims to strengthen the national ecosystem for biological agriculture through knowledge sharing, industry collaboration, research, innovation, and engagement with policymakers and regulators.
Dr. J.P. Singh said the future of Indian farming will depend on the effective integration of biological solutions, scientific research, and smart technologies with the needs of farmers, and emphasised the importance of platforms like BIOAGRI for accelerating the adoption of sustainable practices.
