Hyderabad, October 8, 2026: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) convened a conference on “Cost Optimisation & Future Energy Technologies for MSMEs” at the FTCCI Surana Auditorium in Hyderabad, focusing on strategies to reduce energy costs and enhance competitiveness for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The event brought together industry leaders, MSME entrepreneurs, policymakers, financial institutions and energy experts to discuss energy audits, renewable energy adoption, smart energy management and green financing. SIDBI and the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) supported the conference, with Kehansri Solar as Associate Partner.
Industry leaders highlight efficiency needs
FTCCI President K. K. Maheshwari said that MSME competitiveness now depends on efficient production, cost management, resource use and adaptability to changing business conditions. He noted that rising energy costs, sustainability expectations and new technologies are creating both challenges and opportunities for MSMEs. Maheshwari emphasised the role of industry associations in connecting policy, finance, technology and industry requirements, stating that FTCCI aims to facilitate interaction between MSMEs and supporting institutions.
Sushil Kumar Sancheti, Chair of FTCCI’s Energy Committee, highlighted that MSMEs contribute about 30% of India’s GDP and 48% of exports, and are significant employment generators. He pointed out that energy efficiency and energy-saving measures can improve productivity, but adoption rates remain low among MSMEs. Sancheti said that greater use of renewable energy and affordable energy-efficient devices could help MSMEs cut energy costs and reduce dependence on grid power. He added that with MSMEs often operating on profit margins of 5–10%, energy efficiency could directly boost profitability, though awareness, affordability and payback periods are key factors for adoption.
Sessions cover audits, financing and technology
The conference included sessions on “Energy Audit & Cost Reduction Strategies for MSMEs” by Vinod Kumar, Deputy Director, National Productivity Council (NPC), Government of India; “Financing Energy Efficiency & Sustainable Growth – SIDBI Support for MSMEs” by Sudha Bandaru¬palli, Assistant General Manager, SIDBI, Jeedimetla Branch Office; and “Future Energy Technologies, Renewable Energy & Smart Energy Management” by Tarun Dixit, Managing Director, Kehansri Technologies and Services Pvt. Ltd.
