Chennai, October 30, 2026: OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd. has commenced full-scale production of blood pressure monitors at its first Indian factory near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, operated by OMRON HEALTHCARE MANUFACTURING INDIA Pvt. Ltd. The launch marks a significant expansion of the company’s local manufacturing capabilities in India, with the facility’s operations opened to domestic and international media and stakeholders for the first time.
The Chennai factory, located at ORIGINS by Mahindra, spans approximately 24,000 square meters and houses five production lines dedicated to manufacturing blood pressure monitors for the Indian market. The plant produces the HEM-7090, HEM-7181, and HEM-7183T series, applying production technologies and quality-control standards from OMRON Healthcare’s Matsusaka facility in Japan and its Vietnam plant. These devices range from basic models for first-time users to advanced monitors featuring Trend Indicator and Bluetooth connectivity with the OMRON Connect app, tailored to Indian consumer needs and price expectations.
Supporting Make in India and local healthcare
The facility supports the government’s Make in India initiative through local component sourcing, workforce development, and job creation. The factory employs approximately 120 people and was established in July 2022, with a capitalization of INR 1.91 billion. OMRON Healthcare aims to increase production capacity at the Chennai plant tenfold by 2028, with plans to make the site a supply base for international markets and to introduce nebulizer production for respiratory conditions such as asthma.
Addressing cardiovascular health challenges
The launch comes amid rising cardiovascular health concerns in India, where an estimated 300 million people live with hypertension and cardiovascular diseases remain leading causes of death, according to the World Health Organization. Despite this, fewer than 5% of Indian households regularly use a home blood pressure monitor, and access to healthcare remains limited in many regions. OMRON Healthcare aims to strengthen domestic supply, promote home monitoring, and support earlier identification of cardiovascular risks.
Company initiatives and future plans
OMRON Healthcare has operated in India since 2010, working with healthcare professionals, supporting academic research, and collaborating with the Indian Society of Hypertension on the country’s first home blood pressure monitoring guidelines. The company plans to further promote home monitoring and enhance patient-healthcare professional connections to improve early detection and prevention of cardiovascular conditions.
“Under the OMRON Group’s long-term vision, Shaping the Future 2030, we are working to address three key social challenges: achieving carbon neutrality, realizing a digital society, and extending healthy life expectancy. OMRON Healthcare’s role is to contribute to the third of these, helping people monitor their health as a natural part of everyday life and access appropriate medical care when needed,” said Ayumu Okada, President and CEO, OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd.
