Sony AATH to launch ‘Bhoot Ginni Jilipilata: From 1942’ on November 23

Kolkata, October 30, 2026: Sony AATH has announced the premiere of its new fiction show ‘Bhoot Ginni Jilipilata: From 1942’, set to air from November 23 on Sony AATH and Sony LIV. The series, produced by Missing Screw, explores the adventures of a seven-year-old ghost named Jilipi who returns to her ancestral zamindar home after 80 years.

The show is positioned as a blend of supernatural mischief and family comedy, centering on Jilipi, who, despite her age, assumes the role of the household’s matriarch. The narrative unfolds in a traditional Bengali zamindar household, promising viewers a mix of quirky family dynamics and unexpected surprises.

Cast and production details

‘Bhoot Ginni Jilipilata: From 1942’ is produced and curated by Sahana Dutta and Rohit Samanta of Missing Screw. The lead roles are played by Sreejoyee Majumdar, Kanchan Mallick, and Chandmohon Talukdar. The ensemble cast also features Pushpita Mukherjee, Sumit Samaddar, Chandreyee Dutta, Sanghashree Sinha, Indranil, Prity Biswas, Aritra Dutta, Debparna, Prity Kundu, Rishav, Madhurima, Ananya Sen, Chandranibha Mukherjee, Koushiki, Supradip Khatuya (Fugla), Jiyana, Ruthvik, and Priyangshi.

Producer’s perspective

Sahana Dutta, producer and curator of the show, said Jilipi is a unique character who brings both mischief and affection to the story. “She is seven years old, but in her mind, she is the unquestioned ‘boro thakrun’ of the house. She genuinely believes it is her job to look after everyone, and that is where so many funny situations arise from. The story is as much about family and belonging as it is about a ghost,” Dutta said.

Broadcast schedule

The series will be available to viewers on Sony AATH and Sony LIV starting November 23, 2026.
