Navratri 2026 auto retail sales rise 27% over 2024: FADA

New Delhi, October 21, 2026: Automobile retail sales during Navratri 2026 reached nearly 11.23 lakh units, marking a 27% increase compared to Navratri 2024, according to provisional data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

The ten-day festive period saw passenger vehicle sales rise by over 10% and two-wheeler sales surge by more than 32% compared to the same period in 2024. However, sales were down 6.52% from Navratri 2025, which FADA attributed to last year’s eleven-day festival and the coinciding GST 2.0 roll-out that boosted demand in 2025.

Electric vehicle sales see strong growth

FADA President Sai Giridhar highlighted the growth in electric vehicle (EV) retails, which increased by 26.78% year-on-year. EVs accounted for nearly 10.5% of total festive sales in 2026, up from about 7.7% in the previous year, indicating a sustained shift towards electrification in India’s auto market.

Outlook for festive season remains positive

Giridhar said the industry remains cautiously optimistic as the market enters the Dhanteras-to-Diwali period, citing strong affordability and rising consumer aspiration as key drivers. “Auto retail continues to mirror the enduring momentum of the India Growth Story,” he said.

FADA’s role in auto retail sector

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations is the apex body representing India’s automobile retail industry.
