Vijayawada, October 16, 2026: Knauf India has launched a new Training Academy in Vijayawada in partnership with Pratham Education Foundation, aiming to enhance skill development in drywall and ceiling installation for the construction sector.
The initiative is part of Knauf India’s ongoing efforts to build an industry-ready workforce and create sustainable livelihood opportunities in India’s evolving construction industry. The academy will offer hands-on training focused on drywall and false ceiling installation, targeting candidates aged 18 and above, with around 100 trainees expected in its first year.
Programme structure and curriculum
The 45-day training programme will introduce participants to modules aligned with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), workplace safety protocols, and practical installation techniques. The curriculum is designed to improve employability and prepare candidates for roles such as site supervisors across construction, real estate, interiors, and allied industries.
Leadership perspectives on skilling
“At Knauf, we see skilling as a strategic investment in the future of India’s construction industry. As modern building systems gain momentum, the need for a capable, future-ready workforce becomes even more critical. Through our partnership with Pratham, the Vijayawada Academy will help build technical expertise at the grassroots level, create pathways to meaningful employment, and contribute to the long-term development of a stronger, more resilient construction ecosystem,” said Shray Mehndiratta, CFO, Knauf India.
Rajesh Thokle, Program Director at Pratham Education Foundation, said the partnership aims to equip young people with practical, industry-relevant skills to improve employment readiness and open opportunities in the construction sector.
Expansion of workforce development initiatives
The Vijayawada Training Academy builds on Knauf India’s previous workforce development efforts, including its earlier training centre in Gorakhpur, also established with Pratham. The launch comes amid rising adoption of modern building systems in India’s construction and real estate sectors, which is increasing demand for professionals with specialised installation skills.
Knauf India is part of the global Knauf Group, a manufacturer of drywall and ceiling solutions.
