Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav to address Bombay Chamber’s Target Net Zero Sustainability Conclave


    India has announced a pledge to achieve ‘Net Zero’ carbon emissions by 2070 at the Conference of Parties (COP26) Climate Summit held recently in Glasgow. How are we going to reach this target?
    To have a meaningful discourse on the topic and get Indian industry’s insights on this crucial aspect of Climate Change, Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising a two-day virtual event titled Sustainability Conclave: Target Net Zero on December 10 & 11, 2021 from 5 to 8 pm.

    The Conclave has an impressive lineup of Keynote Speakers. Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Labour & Employment, Government of India Shri Bhupender Yadav will address the Conclave as Keynote Speaker on December 11. Mr Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, is the Keynote Speaker on December 10.

    Over the two days, the Conclave will witness a number of panel discussions and knowledge sessions led by eminent industry speakers who are leading minds on the subject. Anjali Bansal, President, Bombay Chamber and Founder Avaana Capital will open the Conclave with the welcome address.

    The first day will have two Panel Discussions. The Panel discussion on Sustainability Makes Business Sense will have the country’s leading CEOs sharing their insights on the topic. Some of the eminent panelists include R Mukundan, MD & CEO, Tata Chemicals, Neeraj Akhoury, CEO, Holcim India and MD & CEO, Ambuja Cements Ltd and Anita Marangoly George, Executive Vice-President, Deputy Head – CDPQ Global CDPQ India.

    As companies increasingly look for opportunities to meet their sustainability performance targets, green financing like Sustainability Linked Bonds or SLBs, has become a key priority for them. The second panel discussion at the Conclave will talk about sustainability funding. The panelists include Rokas Peciulaitis, Founder & Managing Partner, Contrarian Ventures; Sridhar Narayan, Managing Partner, GEF Capital; Dr Arunabha Ghosh, CEO, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and Ruchira Shukla, VC Regional Lead for South Asia, IFC.

    The second day of the Conclave will have two more panel discussions. The first will discuss on the topic: Making Net Zero Real. Industry leaders on the panel include Sunil Mathur, MD & CEO, Siemens Ltd; Nilesh Shah, Group President & MD, Kotak Mahindra AMC and Rahul Garg, Founder Moglix.

    The last knowledge session of the Conclave will be a panel discussion on how Technology can drive sustainability. The discussion will cover topics like transformation in energy storage and renewable energy adoption, clean hydrogen and India’s Electric Vehicle mobilization. The panelists include Suman Mishra, CEO, Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd; Bill Shukla, Executive Vice President & Group Business Head for Environment Business Unit, Thermax; Anindya Chowdhury, Country Manager, Shell India; Rahul Sankhe, President & Co-founder at SenseHawk and Sandeep Bangia, Business Head – EV Charging Ecosystem, Home Automation, ESCO, TATA Power.

    The Conclave will also have three Fireside Chats, one with literary personality Mridula Ramesh, author of the book Watershed, and founder, Sustainability Climate Institute. Another will have Arun Kumar, Chairman & CEO, KPMG India in conversation with Narayanan Ramaswamy, KPMG Impact Champion for India. They will discuss the evolving ESG landscape in India. A third Fireside Chat will have Anant Singhal, Founder of Youth Policy Collective (YPC), a global youth-led think tank, for youth to be involved in the policy making process. He will be joined by Istaara Amjad, YPC’s Chair of the Environment and Sustainability Committee. They will share their insights on the role of youth in driving Sustainability.
