New Delhi, July 31, 2026: Tesla has made its 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive available for test drives across its experience centers in India, introducing new artificial intelligence features including the Grok AI assistant, the company announced on Thursday.
The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, priced at ₹50,89,000 with a down payment of ₹6,00,000 and monthly EMIs starting from ₹39,990, offers a range of up to 500 km (WLTP), 2,138 litres of storage, and seating for five. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and features power-folding seats and home charging support across all Indian states. Customers ordering before August 30, 2026, will receive a complimentary Wall Connector.
AI features and Grok assistant
The latest Model Y variants in India come equipped with Grok, an AI assistant developed by xAI, available in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. Grok can be activated by voice or via the steering wheel and supports smart trip planning, hyperlocal location search, vehicle alert intelligence, and personalised voice interaction. These features are delivered via over-the-air (OTA) updates at no extra cost.
The Summer 2026 OTA release expands Grok’s capabilities, including automatic navigation to any destination based on driver habits and schedules. In 2025, Tesla had pushed over 300 new or updated features globally through OTA updates.
Production and global deliveries
To meet rising demand, Tesla is increasing production of its 4680 battery cells, which supports higher output of the Model Y. The company reported record deliveries in South Korea, Australia, Colombia, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Portugal, the Philippines, Chile, Slovenia, and Lithuania. During the first half of 2026, Tesla more than doubled its onsite compute capacity in Texas, measured in megawatts of compute, with Cortex 2 supporting autonomy software development for vehicles and humanoid robots.
Test drive locations and ordering
The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive can be ordered via Tesla’s official website. Test drives are available at Tesla Experience Centers in HITEC City (Hyderabad), Whitefield (Bengaluru), BKC (Mumbai), Aerocity (Delhi), and Gurugram. The company stated that home charging support is available nationwide to facilitate ownership.
