Sophos named Leader in 2026 IDC MarketScape for enterprise endpoint security

India, October 6, 2026: Sophos has been recognised as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Modern Endpoint Security for Enterprises 2026 Vendor Assessment (#US54123526, September 2026), the company announced. The assessment highlights Sophos’ prevention-first endpoint protection across web, exploit and ransomware threats, validated through multiple independent testing programmes.

The IDC MarketScape recognition comes as enterprises face shrinking response windows due to AI-driven attacks, with the Sophos AI Security 2026 Report noting that recent high-profile vulnerabilities were exploited within 24 to 36 hours of disclosure. Sophos Endpoint uses deep learning AI to identify both known and previously unseen malware, including AI-generated variants, before execution. The product also features more than 60 exploit mitigations enabled by default on every process, aiming to block techniques used to weaponise vulnerabilities and reduce operational complexity for enterprises.

AI-driven threats and enterprise needs

Kyle Falkenhagen, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Sophos, said the recognition reflects the company’s ability to address the needs of enterprises in fast-moving threat environments. He noted that Sophos Endpoint is designed to stop attacker techniques before they become business-impacting events, and as part of Sophos Fusion, extends protection across the entire environment.

The IDC MarketScape report recommended Sophos for organisations seeking a unified, open platform with strong third-party integration, native identity threat detection, and automation. It noted that both SMBs and large enterprises are looking for out-of-the-box, protection-first endpoint security with minimal tuning.

Sophos Fusion and threat intelligence

Sophos Endpoint serves as a foundational control point within Sophos Fusion, the company’s AI-native cybersecurity defense system. Endpoint telemetry is combined with signals from other Sophos controls and over 500 third-party integrations. Through Synchronized Security, threats detected at the endpoint can trigger coordinated responses across the environment, with additional signals from identity, firewall, email, and cloud control points enhancing investigation and response.

Sophos Fusion is supported by Sophos X-Ops threat intelligence and incident response insights, drawing on intelligence from more than 625,000 organisations defended by Sophos worldwide. This shared intelligence enables security teams to manage Sophos products, review detections from Sophos and third-party controls, investigate suspicious activity, and remediate threats from a connected platform.

IDC MarketScape methodology

The IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model provides an overview of the competitive fitness of technology and service suppliers, using a scoring methodology based on qualitative and quantitative criteria. The Capabilities score assesses vendor product, go-to-market and business execution in the short term, while the Strategy score measures alignment with customer requirements over a three-to-five-year timeframe. Vendor market share and year-over-year growth rate are also represented in the analysis.

Sophos is headquartered in Oxford, U.K., and provides cybersecurity solutions to organisations globally.
