India, November 3, 2026: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has become a strategic investor in Metasports Interactive, the mobile-first sports gaming company behind the cricket strategy game Hitwicket. The partnership aims to expand Hitwicket’s user base to 100 million downloads over the next three years, the company said.
Hitwicket, launched in 2020 by co-founders Kashyap Reddy and Keerti Singh, has attracted over 20 million players across 120 countries. The game has seen a 100% increase in revenue in the past six months, with users spending an average of 51 minutes daily on the platform.
Focus on cricket strategy gameplay
Hitwicket is positioned as a competitive multiplayer cricket game that emphasises strategic decision-making, a feature that influenced Tendulkar’s decision to invest. Tendulkar will also be featured in the game’s in-game experiences, content, and brand activations.
“Hitwicket stood out to me for how it brings the strategic thinking behind cricket into the game. The game translates that strategic dimension into an engaging experience for players. I enjoyed playing the game, believe in what the team is building, and that makes the association feel natural,” said Sachin Tendulkar.
Recent funding and global growth
The investment follows a USD 20 million user acquisition funding round led by London-based Metica in April 2026. According to Metasports Interactive, Hitwicket’s monetisation metrics, player retention, and user acquisition data were key factors behind Metica’s decision to invest. The company is also backed by cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle.
Co-founder and CEO Kashyap Reddy said, “Hitwicket has built a distinct proposition in cricket gaming by making strategic decision-making central to the experience, and Sachin Tendulkar recognised this unique difference. Tendulkar’s belief in what we’ve built, together with the growth capital behind us, lets us take cricket strategy to every cricket fan in the world.”
Company background and user engagement
Metasports Interactive develops multiplayer sports games for long-term engagement and global reach. Hitwicket generates more than 97% of its revenue through in-app purchases from both Indian and international markets. The average daily time spent by Hitwicket users globally is approximately 51 minutes, a figure the company says is comparable to leading football games and higher than that of Candy Crush.
