Micot Pharma presents MT200605 stroke drug data at World Stroke Congress

Hong Kong, October 27, 2026: Micot Pharma (HKEX: 2335) presented clinical and preclinical data on its neuroprotective drug candidate MT200605 at the 18th World Stroke Congress (WSC 2026), held in Seoul, South Korea, from October 21 to 23. The company highlighted the candidate’s mechanism of action, results from Phase I trials in China and the United States, and positive Phase II data in acute ischemic stroke (AIS).

MT200605 is described by Micot Pharma as a first-in-class, brain-penetrant small-molecule TrkB agonist being developed for AIS. The company said the WSC presentation increased international visibility for the program and supported efforts to secure licensing and co-development partnerships outside China.

Preclinical and Phase I findings

Dr. Liu, executive director of nonclinical R&D at Micot Pharma, presented MT200605’s development rationale, including its ability to cross the blood–brain barrier and address multiple points in the ischemic cascade. In preclinical stroke models, survival was 79.2% in the MT200605 group compared with 44.8% for the edaravone comparator group, with a significant reduction in infarct volume also reported. Phase I studies in China and the US demonstrated favorable safety, tolerability, and predictable pharmacokinetics.

Phase II trial results in stroke

Micot Pharma reported that in a 360-patient, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase II trial in China, MT200605 met its primary efficacy endpoint and key secondary endpoints. The high-dose group showed a statistically significant improvement over placebo in the proportion of patients achieving a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 0–1 at Day 90, indicating no symptoms or no significant disability. The odds of achieving this outcome were more than twice as high in the high-dose group as with placebo, with approximately one additional patient experiencing a favorable outcome for every six treated, according to the company.

Secondary endpoints included early neurological improvement as measured by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and a dose–response relationship. The company also noted a favorable safety profile and reported that the incidence of post-stroke acute kidney injury (AKI) in the high-dose group was more than 80% lower than in the placebo group, suggesting potential combined brain and kidney protection.

Potential in neurodegenerative diseases

MT200605 was also featured at the International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders (MDS 2026), where Micot Pharma presented preclinical Huntington’s disease data and Phase I safety and pharmacokinetic results in healthy adults. The company stated that MT200605 has received orphan drug designation from the US Food and Drug Administration for Huntington’s disease. Micot Pharma is exploring the candidate’s potential in neurodegenerative conditions such as Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), although clinical efficacy in these indications has not yet been established.

Next steps and partnership plans

Micot Pharma said it is focusing on the design and initiation of Phase III registrational trials in China and potential multiregional clinical trials (MRCTs). The company is seeking out-licensing, co-development, or regional partnerships outside China. Additional clinical data in indications such as Huntington’s disease will be important in evaluating MT200605’s broader central nervous system (CNS) potential.

Micot Pharma is a biopharmaceutical company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
