IIIT-Bangalore and upGrad launch Executive PG Programme in Forward Deployed AI Engineering

Bangalore, November 3, 2026: IIIT-Bangalore, in collaboration with upGrad, has introduced the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Forward Deployed AI Engineering, aimed at equipping experienced engineers with enterprise-ready AI skills and practical learning opportunities.

The six-month programme is designed to address the rising demand for engineers capable of bridging technical expertise with business understanding as enterprises shift from AI pilots to large-scale deployment. Participants will receive a Postgraduate Programme Certificate from IIIT-Bangalore upon successful completion.

Programme structure and curriculum

The curriculum covers the full lifecycle managed by a Forward Deployed Engineer, including client discovery, solution architecture, enterprise deployment, and client delivery. Five courses are offered, focusing on production engineering, large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, agentic AI, and AI security. The programme also includes an end-to-end capstone project.

Hands-on learning and real-world application

Participants will engage in 120 hours of live sessions, guided labs, and practical drills, delivered through a live online cohort model. A key feature of the programme is a real client capstone, where learners build and deploy an AI solution on a live project. Additionally, a one-day campus immersion at IIIT-Bangalore is included.

Target participants and eligibility

The programme is intended for software and AI/ML engineers, as well as technical professionals in pre-sales and solutions roles, who have proficiency in Python and experience building data pipelines or REST APIs.

Industry perspectives

Prof. V Sridhar, Head of Continuing Professional Education at IIIT-Bangalore, and Anuj Vishwakarma, CEO, Higher Education at upGrad, highlighted the growing need for engineers who combine technical depth with business acumen and customer delivery skills.
