Bangalore, October 14, 2026: HID has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the FIDO Alliance, with Sean Dyon, Vice President of HID’s Authentication Business Unit, named as the company’s Primary Board Delegate. The move aims to support the acceleration of passwordless authentication adoption across enterprises.
HID’s appointment comes as 93% of organisations are at some stage of passkey adoption, according to a report by the FIDO Alliance and HID. The company will contribute its expertise in physical and digital identity to address challenges such as interoperability, credential lifecycle management, and deployment at scale.
Focus on enterprise authentication
HID, which has been a FIDO Alliance member since 2015, has participated in working groups on FIDO2, digital credentials, and consumer deployment, and has partnered with the Alliance on identity security research. The company also develops FIDO-certified authenticators and authentication platforms used by enterprise and government clients globally.
As a Board member, HID will help shape the Alliance’s strategy, standards, and certification priorities, representing enterprise perspectives on converged identity and multi-vendor interoperability as passwordless adoption expands from pilot programs to full-scale deployment.
Industry perspectives and leadership
Andrew Shikiar, Executive Director and CEO of the FIDO Alliance, said, “As enterprises scale passkey deployments, HID’s perspective on converged physical and digital identity will help us bring the security and usability benefits of passkeys to a wider range of environments.”
Sean Dyon, Vice President of the Authentication Business Unit at HID, added that HID’s experience across physical and digital identity would help address real-world challenges in deployment, lifecycle management, and interoperability.
HID’s global presence
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, HID employs over 4,500 people worldwide and operates in more than 100 countries. The company is a brand of ASSA ABLOY Group.
