NOIDA and LUCKNOW, July 9, 2026 (BFN Bureau): HCLFoundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Urban Development Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh to enhance sustainable waste management practices in the cities of Hardoi, Prayagraj, and Agra. The agreement was formalized at an event in Lucknow.
Under this collaboration, HCLFoundation and the Urban Development Department will work together on strategic planning, pilot projects, policy reforms, and the deployment of IT-enabled solutions to improve waste management systems in the three cities. This initiative is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
My Clean City Program Initiatives
As part of the My Clean City program, HCLFoundation has donated 10 E-drain carts and 10 E-garbage loaders to the Hardoi Nagar Palika Parishad, and three reverse vending machines have been unveiled. Additionally, the foundation has initiated city beautification projects in Hardoi, including wall art, and plans to develop three markets and three wards as model areas.
“My Clean City is a citizen-led program aimed at reclaiming urban spaces with a focus on technology inclusion and innovative solutions. This partnership with the Urban Development Department, U.P., will further strengthen our efforts, especially in Agra, Hardoi and Prayagraj—three new cities to which we expanded the program in FY26,” said Alok Varma, Project Director, Samuday and My Clean City, HCLFoundation.
Anuj Kumar Jha (IAS), Secretary of the Urban Development Department and State Mission Director of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), stated, “The Department envisions building cleaner, healthier and sustainable cities across the state through collaborative action. This partnership with HCLFoundation brings together institutional strength and implementation expertise which will help accelerate urban sanitation efforts, strengthen waste management practices, and create innovative models that will inspire urban transformation in Agra, Hardoi and Prayagraj.”
