Hyderabad, October 17, 2026: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) held its sixth monthly stakeholders’ meeting with Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, IAS, on Saturday at Federation House, Hyderabad, focusing on power supply reliability, tariff relief, and solar energy issues.
The session was attended by over 45 participants, including senior TGSPDCL officials, FTCCI office-bearers, Energy Committee members, KPMG consultants, industrial associations, and industry representatives. Key topics included evening peak-hour interruptions, delayed payment surcharge reduction, solar net metering, and the resolution of industry grievances.
Industry requests and TGSPDCL response
Process industry representatives raised concerns over production losses due to power interruptions and requested advance notice of scheduled power cuts. TGSPDCL agreed to consider sending advance SMS and email alerts to help industries plan operations. FTCCI sought an extension of the collection period for the two-hour fuel surcharge from 29 to 48 months, a reduction in the delayed payment surcharge from 18% compounding to 12%, and a six-month waiver of the additional surcharge on Open Access.
The meeting also reviewed a proposed One-Time Settlement scheme for legacy surcharge dues, with a financial assessment underway and an Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) filing expected by November 30, 2026, supported by KPMG.
Operational improvements for HT consumers
TGSPDCL proposed introducing dedicated Operations Service Managers and Key Account Managers for high-tension (HT) industrial consumers to address power supply, operational, and billing issues. Jitesh V. Patil agreed to issue a formal circular within a week, followed by an orientation session with FTCCI. Industries were encouraged to use the customer service email for related concerns.
Solar energy and infrastructure initiatives
Discussions covered delays in rooftop solar net metering approvals, behind-the-meter solar installations, net billing, and time-of-day charges for solar generator supply. FTCCI will submit two to three documented cases of delayed net metering approvals to help TGSPDCL identify bottlenecks. The CMD also agreed to review the implementation timeline for time-of-day charges. TGSPDCL is procuring four to five power quality meters to improve transparency in Open Access NOC testing.
The meeting also explored solar and battery storage solutions for gated communities to reduce electricity costs for common facilities. A dedicated workshop involving gated community associations, solar and battery solution providers, FTCCI, and other stakeholders is planned, with KPMG assisting in its organisation.
Additional issues and next steps
Other topics included voltage fluctuations, transformer overloads, tree-cutting-related power interruptions, removal of HT classification flags, auxiliary consumption conversion, and high electricity bills. TGSPDCL agreed to follow up on pending grievances, examine infrastructure improvements, and consider third-party energy audits to verify billing accuracy. Feeder and transformer enhancement works are targeted for completion by December 31, 2026.
Jitesh V. Patil assured industry representatives of TGSPDCL’s continued support in addressing grievances and improving service delivery. FTCCI President K. K. Maheshwari, Vice President Vinod Kumar Agarwal, and Energy Committee Chairman Sushil Kumar Sancheti attended the meeting, along with TGSPDCL Director (Commercial) Chakrapani and Director (Finance) Krishna Reddy.
