Birla Tyres takes Durga Puja celebrations to elderly and patients in Howrah and Hooghly

Kolkata, October 23, 2026: Birla Tyres launched its ‘Maa Asche’ initiative during Durga Puja, bringing a travelling pandal with an idol of Maa Durga to elderly citizens, patients, and care facility residents across Howrah and Hooghly on October 17 and 18, 2026.

The two-day programme was designed to enable those unable to visit traditional pandals to participate in the festivities. The specially fabricated vehicle, flagged off from Thakurpukur, visited Indian Oil at Dhulagarh, Sanjiban Hospital at Fuleswar, and Santosh Promoda Old Age Home & Hospital in Bagnan on October 17. On October 18, the journey continued to Hindustan Petroleum at Dankuni, Simla Old Age Home, and ESI Hospital at Serampore.

Travelling pandal covers multiple locations

The initiative allowed devotees at these sites to have darshan, offer prayers, and participate in pushpanjali. Birla Tyres stated that the effort was inspired by the idea that if people cannot go to Maa, Maa can come to them, aiming to reinforce faith, inclusion, and togetherness during the festival.

Company statement on community engagement

Somesh Satnalika, Business Head at Birla Tyres, said the ‘Maa Asche’ initiative was intended to bring the festive spirit of Durga Puja closer to those unable to visit pandals, reflecting the company’s commitment to staying connected with the communities it serves.

Focus on inclusion and cultural connection

Birla Tyres said the initiative combined mobility, cultural traditions, and social purpose, highlighting its connection with the people of Bengal and its emphasis on inclusion and compassion during Durga Puja.

Birla Tyre is a tyre manufacturer in India, supplying commercial and off-road segments, and is currently undergoing a phase of revival and reinvention under new promoters.
