Maharashtra, October 6, 2026: Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting, in partnership with Wipro Cares, has opened applications for the Santoor Scholarship Program 2026–27 in Maharashtra, aiming to support 500 young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with financial assistance for higher education.
Each selected student will receive ₹30,000 per annum until the completion of her undergraduate program, with the funds available for tuition, living expenses and other education-related costs. Applications are open until October 15, 2026, and can be submitted both online and offline.
Focus on disadvantaged communities
The Santoor Scholarship Program prioritises students from disadvantaged communities and districts, where financial and socio-economic barriers often limit access to higher education. In the previous academic year (2025–26), the program supported 500 students in Maharashtra during its second edition in the state.
Launched in 2016–17 as a joint initiative of Wipro Enterprises Ltd. and Wipro Cares, the program has supported over 10,000 young women nationwide over the past decade, with more than 7,500 recipients coming from aspirational districts. The initiative has invested more than ₹50 crore in women’s education over this period.
Scholarship allocation and disciplines
At least 60% of the scholarships are earmarked for students pursuing liberal arts and pure sciences, while the remaining 40% support those studying technology, engineering and medicine. The program supports a diverse range of undergraduate disciplines.
Organisers highlight impact
P.S. Narayan, Global Head – Sustainability and Societal Initiatives at Wipro Limited, said the initiative is founded on the belief that bridging the gap between school and college education for girls from disadvantaged communities can empower them and create positive outcomes for their future. “We stay strongly committed to what we believe is a critical enabler of an inclusive, just and humane society,” Narayan said.
Neeraj Khatri, President, Wipro Consumer Care, India and SAARC Business, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, noted that the program has helped young women overcome barriers to higher education in Maharashtra and has demonstrated the transformative power of education in opening doors to opportunity and independence over the past decade.
