New Delhi: In a disturbing incident reported from Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, a man allegedly murdered his mother named Prabha in order to claim a Rs 50 lakh insurance payout. The accused, identified as Himanshu, reportedly addicted to gaming on the platform Zupee, had accumulated significant debts due to repeated losses. Facing mounting pressure from creditors, he devised a ruthless plan to alleviate his financial burden.
To execute his scheme, Himanshu stole his paternal aunt’s jewelry and used the proceeds to purchase life insurance policies worth Rs 50 lakh each for his parents. Subsequently, he strangled his mother to death while his father was away. He then disposed of her body near the Yamuna river bank.
Upon returning home from a visit to the Chitrakoot temple, Roshan Singh, Himanshu’s father, discovered both his wife and son missing. After inquiries within the locality proved futile, a neighbor mentioned seeing Himanshu near the riverbank with a tractor. Subsequently, the police were notified, leading to the recovery of Prabha’s body and the subsequent arrest of Himanshu. Further investigation revealed the sinister motive behind the murder—a desperate attempt to settle his gaming-related debts.

Pratibha, 42, worked in a cotton mill, while Himanshu was an undergraduate student.
