Swiggy reports surge in festive food orders during Navratri and Durga Puja 2026

National, October 22, 2026: Swiggy Ltd (NSE: SWIGGY / BSE: 544285) recorded a significant increase in orders for traditional fasting meals and sweets during Navratri and Durga Puja celebrations this year, with demand peaking between October 17 and 20 across India.

The platform delivered an average of 1,794 Sabudana dishes per hour during the Navratri weekend of October 17-18, with Sabudana Khichdi and Sabudana Vada emerging as the most popular choices. Major cities such as Mumbai and Bengaluru led the demand for Sabudana Khichdi, while Pune and Jaipur also saw high order volumes.

Strong demand for vrat thalis

Curated Navratri Special Vrat Thalis were among the top fasting meal orders, with the “Navratri Special Vrat Thali with Singhara Poori” being especially popular. Rajgira Poori & Aloo Hing 3-Course Thalis also featured prominently, with Delhi, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, and Noida driving the highest demand. One customer in Noida placed an order worth Rs 11,072 for 13 units of the Navratri Special Vrat Thali with Singhara Poori, marking one of the largest vrat orders during the festive weekend.

Rasgulla tops festive sweet orders

Between October 17 and 20, orders for traditional sweets rose by 36.4% compared to the same festive period last year. Rasgulla was the most ordered sweet, averaging 495 orders per hour, with Delhi, Mumbai, and Gurgaon accounting for the highest demand. Other popular sweets included Gulab Jamun, Kaju Katli, Jalebi, and Rasmalai.

While metros such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Hyderabad saw the most demand for sweets, emerging markets like Patna, Dehradun, Jodhpur, Gaya, and Thiruvananthapuram also contributed significantly. Smaller towns including Agartala, Shillong, Palwal, and Bhatinda recorded notable sweet orders. A Mumbai consumer placed the highest-value rasgulla order between October 17 and 20, spending Rs 9,870 on assorted mithais and Coffee Rasgulla Tiramisu.

Food delivery blends with festive traditions

Swiggy said these trends reflect the growing integration of on-demand food delivery with traditional celebrations across both metropolitan and emerging Indian cities.
