Suzlon Secures 105 MW Order for New Wind Turbine

Pune, India: Suzlon has made a significant leap in the renewable energy sector by securing a 105 MW order for its newly launched S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine from Sunsure Energy, just two weeks after its introduction. This order marks a strong commercial debut for the S175, showcasing customer confidence in Suzlon’s innovative technology.

Details of the Order

This order is particularly noteworthy as it represents Sunsure’s third partnership with Suzlon in less than 14 months, bringing their cumulative collaboration to 400.8 MW. The S175, equipped with a 175-meter rotor and a 160-meter hybrid lattice tower, is designed to harness stronger winds, thereby increasing energy yields and improving project economics.

Impact on the Renewable Energy Market

The project will involve the supply, erection, commissioning, and maintenance of 21 S175 wind turbine generators, set to be installed in Bijapur, Karnataka. Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasized the deepening partnership with Sunsure, stating, “We value their continued trust in our technology and execution capabilities.” This collaboration reflects the rapid growth in India’s commercial and industrial renewable energy market.

Manish Mehta, Co-Founder of Sunsure Energy, noted that the S175 is tailored for reliable power generation, aligning with their goal of achieving a 10 GW operational capacity by 2030. This order underscores the strategic importance of integrating renewable energy into India’s expanding industrial landscape.
