Siemens Energy India opens Energy4Good Technology Center in Goa

Goa, October 27, 2026: Siemens Energy India Limited (SEIL) has launched its first Energy4Good Technology Center at Government Polytechnic, Bicholim, Goa, with the inauguration led by Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa. The center, established under SEIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, is designed to address skill gaps and enhance employability among students at government-run polytechnic institutes through industry-aligned technical training.

The Goa facility will train up to 200 students annually, offering hands-on learning with advanced training infrastructure and industry-relevant content. This center is one of three Energy4Good Technology Centers established by SEIL in FY2026, alongside centers in Maharashtra and Gujarat, bringing the combined annual training capacity to over 600 students.

Focus on technical skill development

Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, said the Energy4Good Technology Centre would provide students with practical exposure to modern industrial technologies, improving their employment prospects and supporting technical education in the state. Guilherme Mendonca, Managing Director and CEO of SEIL, highlighted the importance of developing industry-ready talent to support India’s energy transition and infrastructure growth.

Curriculum and training approach

The curriculum for the center was developed following a skill-gap assessment involving industry, academia, and stakeholders. It covers programmable logic controllers (PLC) and drives, hydraulics and pneumatics, mechatronics, sensor technology, computer-aided design, Microsoft Office Suite, and methods for efficiency and productivity improvement such as 5S, lean manufacturing, quality management, and environment, health and safety. Training will combine classroom and laboratory sessions with industry exposure.

Program implementation and stakeholders

The program will be implemented over three years, covering infrastructure setup, curriculum development, training delivery, faculty capacity building, and integration into academic programs. This phased approach aims to enable host institutes to independently operate the centers in the long term. The inauguration was attended by Premendra Shet, MLA, Mayem; Chandrakant Shetye, MLA, Bicholim; Bhushan Savaikar, Director of Technical Education, Government of Goa; Dr. Pramodini S. Naik, Principal, Government Polytechnic Bicholim; Swati Salgaocar, Independent Director, SEIL; Harish Shekar, Executive Director and CFO, SEIL; and Beena Dixit, Vice President and Head, People & Organization and CSR, SEIL.

Addressing employability challenges

According to the India Skills Report 2026, employability among polytechnic graduates stands at about 33%, underscoring the need for structured, industry-aligned training. SEIL’s Energy4Good Technology Center initiative aims to address this gap by combining modern laboratory infrastructure, faculty development, and industry-aligned training, thereby strengthening the talent pipeline for India’s energy and industrial sectors.

Energy4Good is SEIL’s CSR program focused on access to education, environmental sustainability, and community resilience, including initiatives to help communities withstand climate-related hazards and natural disasters.
