Shankar Mahadevan voices devotional music video ‘Swami Aaicha Gondhal’

Pune, [no date in source]: Padma Shri recipient and singer Shankar Mahadevan has provided vocals for ‘Swami Aaicha Gondhal’, a devotional music video released by Swami Aai Films that combines Maharashtra’s Gondhal folk tradition with contemporary music and a social message.

The song, which features Marathi television actors Akshay Waghmare and Pratiksha Mungekar, was composed by Snehal-Swapnil with lyrics by Mandar Ingle. Harshavardhan Jadhav directed the video, while Omkar Markale was responsible for the story, screenplay and creative direction. The project was produced by Amit Rajendra Bahirat.

Focus on faith and social themes

Rooted in the Gondhal folk performance associated with devotional worship in Maharashtra, the music video explores the impact of workplace stress and daily pressures on personal relationships. Its narrative emphasises faith, empathy, emotional sensitivity and respect for women, according to the production team.

Director Harshavardhan Jadhav said the video aims to convey both devotion and the importance of respecting women. Omkar Markale added that the story expresses the idea that divine grace can reach people through others, especially during difficult times.

Proceeds to support girls’ education

Producer Amit Bahirat stated that commercial proceeds from the project will be dedicated to the education of girls from underprivileged backgrounds. He described the initiative as an effort to fulfil social responsibility and improve educational opportunities for girls in need.

Debut project for Swami Aai Films

‘Swami Aaicha Gondhal’ is the debut release from Swami Aai Films, a production house established to combine devotional storytelling with social responsibility. The team said the song is among the highest-budgeted standalone music productions in Marathi. The video was released during Navratri on Ashtami and is available on the Swami Aai Films YouTube channel.
