Bengaluru, October 14, 2026: Scapia, a travel fintech platform, has reported a three- to four-fold year-on-year increase in holiday bookings for the October to December festive season, according to its latest travel trends data.

The company said that while traditional destinations such as Goa and major hill stations remain popular, Indian travellers are increasingly choosing smaller coastal towns, island destinations, heritage sites, wildlife safaris, and emerging international locations.

Significant growth in domestic travel

Stays in Gokarna saw an eightfold year-on-year rise, with Varkala and Kollam also recording substantial growth. Bookings for Srinagar, Mussoorie, and Manali increased by six to seven times compared to the previous year. The Andaman Islands registered a fivefold jump in October check-ins, while bookings for scenic Vistadome train journeys doubled.

Preference for beaches and safaris

Beach bookings rose 4.8 times year-on-year, with nearly one in three reservations made at five-star properties and 30% of these including children. Safari stay bookings, particularly for Ranthambore, Gir, and Jim Corbett, increased by 6.6 times, while heritage stays at locations such as Ajanta-Ellora and Kumbhalgarh tracked at 4.8 times last year’s figures.

International travel trends

International flight bookings for the Christmas and New Year period rose 5.4 times year-on-year. Searches for Cambodia increased tenfold, and interest in Central Asian destinations such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan reached new highs, according to Scapia.
