Benchmark and the equity bellwether index, S&P BSE Sensex
SBI Contra Fund, one of the category’s oldest equity funds, has recorded nearly 100%
growth in AUM over the last year. The scheme AUM stands at INR 4687.76 crores as on
June 30, 2022 as compared to INR 2397.73 crores as on June 30, 2021.
SBI Contra Fund has significantly outperformed its first-tier benchmark (S&P BSE 500 TRI)
in the short, medium, and long term. The fund has delivered the highest returns in the
category in the 1-year (11.55%), 3-year (21.34%), 5-year (12.90%) and Since Inception
(18.41%) time periods.

and is suitable for investors who have advanced knowledge of macro trends and prefer to

The Fund Manager for the SBI Contra Fund is Mr. Dinesh Balachandran, who has been
managing the fund since May 2018.
The fund manager follows a combination of top-down and bottom-up approach to build the
portfolio. From a top-down perspective, the fund manager looks for themes/sectors that the
market has completely written off and from a bottom-up perspective, he looks for good
quality companies going through a rough phase.
