Chennai, October 30, 2026: Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has announced the launch of nine products and 28 new stock keeping units (SKUs) under its Independence brand in Tamil Nadu, with availability beginning November 2, 2026.
The expansion marks a significant effort by RCPL to strengthen its presence and accelerate growth in the state’s biscuit market, which the company identifies as a key region for its biscuit business. The move follows increased production capacity and aims to expand consumer reach and capture a larger share of the Tamil Nadu biscuit segment.
New products and pricing
The expanded Independence biscuit portfolio includes nine products: Independence Power Up, Independence Butter Bliss, Independence Milky Power, Independence Marie Prime, Independence Coco Vanilla & Chocolate, Independence CremYum Orange, Independence CremYum Choco, Independence Coco Bourbon, and Independence Glucose Boost. Products will be sold in trial packs at ₹5, sharing packs at ₹10, and larger home packs priced between ₹40 and ₹125.
Focus on Power Up and brand association
The portfolio is led by Independence Power Up and Independence Milky Power. Independence Power Up combines milk, glucose, and protein in a single biscuit, which RCPL says offers a differentiated proposition in the everyday biscuit category. The launch of Independence Power Up is being supported by a brand association with Ajith Kumar Racing, aligning the product with the performance-driven ethos of motorsport to boost brand visibility and consumer awareness in Tamil Nadu.
Distribution channels and business strategy
The new biscuit range will be distributed through general trade, national and regional modern trade, e-commerce, Reliance Retail, and wholesale channels to ensure broad market access. RCPL is pursuing a two-pronged strategy for its biscuit business: the Independence brand focuses on scale with a wide portfolio of everyday and indulgent biscuits, while its joint venture with Sri Lankan biscuit maker Maliban targets differentiated, premium offerings.
“Tamil Nadu is a key market for our biscuit business, and our focus is on expanding our portfolio to address evolving consumer preferences while building scale. Milk biscuits are well established in household consumption, and with Independence Power Up Biscuits, we are building on this familiarity through a differentiated offering that brings together milk, glucose and protein in one product. Our broader portfolio reflects our philosophy of ‘Each Consumer, Each Occasion’,” said T Krishnakumar, Director, Reliance Consumer Products Limited.
