
Rajasthan leading in disbursement of insurance claim, so far Rs 19,900 crore crop insurance claim disbursed
Jaipur: Farmers have to face natural calamities while growing crops due to which they are unable to take the complete fruits of their labour. The state government through a crop insurance scheme gives insurance claim as compensation to the victims of crop damage. This step of the state government in providing economic support to the farmers is proving to be a milestone.
To resolve the problems of farmers not getting the insurance policy on time by the central government, the state government taking the initiative has started distributing insurance policies to the farmers from 2021. Looking at the encouraging results, the Central Government on the lines of the state government has started the campaign ‘Meri Policy, Mera Haath'(My policy in my hands) from Rabi 2021-22 across the country and started distributing the insurance policies, which is a subject of pride for the state government.

Rajasthan honoured for better implementation of the scheme
Dr Prithvi said that a national meet was organised for better implementation of crop insurance scheme at Raipur in Chhattisgarh in April 2023 in which the Central Government honoured the state government with two awards. Rajasthan was awarded the first prize for disbursement of insurance claims through national crop insurance portal and second prize for better implementation of the scheme.
Crop insurance for farmers at minimum premium
The secretary of the agriculture and horticulture department said that the farmers pay a premium of only 2% for the kharif crops and 1.5% for the rabi crops and 5% for the commercial and horticulture crops. He said that loanee farmers taking crop loans, non-loanee farmers and tenant farmers get their crops insured under this scheme.
Farmers Salaram and Raghuveer got support from the scheme
Salaram Bana of Phulera in Jaipur district said that he grows rabi and kharif crops in his field. He said last year after the harvesting of wheat crops, there was heavy rain and his field was full of water and the entire harvested wheat crops got damaged. Bana said that he would have been ruined if he had not got the crops insured. He got an insurance claim of Rs 60,000 in his account and this scheme proved to be a boon for him. In case of not getting the insurance claims, he would not be in position to repay the loans and his family would be in financial stress. Now he is making other farmers aware to get crop insurance.
