Ova Ferticon 2026 draws over 200 reproductive medicine experts to Thane

Thane, October 13, 2026: Ova Ferticon 2026, a two-day reproductive medicine conference organised by Ova Fertility & Women Care, Thane, in association with the Thane Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society (TOGS), convened more than 200 delegates and 45 faculty members from five cities at Taj Vivanta, Thane, on October 10 and 11. The event brought together obstetricians, gynaecologists, fertility specialists, embryologists, and medical students to discuss developments in IVF, fertility preservation for cancer patients, and high-risk pregnancy management.

The conference focused on advances in assisted reproductive technology (ART), embryology, maternal-fetal medicine, robotic surgery, and oncofertility, with an emphasis on practical training and multidisciplinary collaboration. Sessions addressed recurrent implantation failure, endometrial receptivity, genetics in infertility, male-factor infertility, and medico-legal issues in IVF.

Key speakers and faculty

Padma Shri Dr Kamini Rao delivered the Ova Ferticon Oration on “The Art of ART: Evolution, Ethics & Excellence.” Other speakers included Dr Satish Tibrewala of Bombay Hospital, Dr Kiran Patole, Dean MPGIMER, MUHS, Nashik, Dr Ashutosh Ajgaonkar, Dr Prakash Mehta (President, Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine India), Dr Revathi S Rajan (Secretary, SMFM India and Global Chair, ISSHP), Dr Cherry Shah of Mumbai, and Dr Kanthi Bansal, fertility specialist from Gujarat. Local dignitaries such as Dr Rekha Thote, President of TOGS, and Dr Padmaja Samant, HOD at KEM Hospital, also participated.

Workshops and academic initiatives

The programme included four practical workshops: simulator-based training with the Meril surgical robot, andrology and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) preparation, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and embryo biopsy, and point-of-care placental growth factor (PlGF) testing for preeclampsia. The maternal-fetal medicine workshop was conducted with the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine (India), and a keynote addressed angiogenic biomarkers in preeclampsia management. The conference awarded four Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) credit points to participants.

A session titled “Intelligence That Sees Beyond the Obvious: AI in Reproductive Medicine” explored the use of artificial intelligence in embryo assessment, laboratory practices, clinical decision-making, and treatment planning, with discussions on clinical validation, ethical safeguards, and patient consent as AI tools expand in reproductive healthcare.

Book launch and new academic circle

The event saw the launch of “NextGen Reproductive Medicine,” authored by Dr Snehal Kohale, Clinical Director, Ova Fertility & Women Care, Thane, and Dr Sangeetha Kumar, Senior Embryologist and IVF Laboratory Manager at Ova Fertility & Women Care. Published by Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers, the book covers reproductive biology, endocrinology, genomics, regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence, and digital health.

The organisers also announced the Ova Academic Circle, a monthly online academic initiative to extend learning beyond the conference, with planned topics such as PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, male infertility, fertility preservation, and menopause.

Expert perspectives and future plans

Dr Kiran Patole emphasised the importance of integrating technology with clinical judgement in medical education, stating that technology should complement, not replace, sound clinical knowledge. Padma Shri Dr Kamini Rao highlighted the pillars of precision, ethics, and clinical excellence in fertility treatment, and the need to nurture future doctors through knowledge sharing and mentorship.

Dr Snehal Kohale said the conference aimed to bridge the gap between knowledge and clinical practice, foster collaboration across women’s health specialities, and inspire young doctors through scientific exchange, hands-on training, and mentorship. The organisers plan to develop Ova Ferticon into an annual academic platform for reproductive medicine professionals in Maharashtra and beyond.

Ova Fertility & Women Care, based in Thane, is focused on fertility, reproductive medicine, and women’s healthcare, and promotes evidence-based learning and multidisciplinary collaboration through clinical and academic initiatives.
