On the first day of the National Veteran Matchmaking Conference, NVBDC will have a special guest speaker Mr. Donald “Don” R. Cravins, Jr., Under Secretary of Commerce for Minority Business Development, in attendance.
About Don Cravins, Jr.
Don Cravins, Jr. is the inaugural Under Secretary of Commerce for Minority Business Development, overseeing the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). President Biden’s 2021 legislation established MBDA as a permanent federal agency. Confirmed by the U.S. Senate in August 2022, Cravins brings extensive experience from both public service and the private sector. His career includes serving in the Louisiana State Legislature, pivotal roles in the U.S. Senate, and leadership positions in prominent non-profit and for-profit organizations, notably as the Executive Vice President and COO of the National Urban League. He also holds the rank of U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and has received numerous military honors. Cravins has been recognized for his contributions to civil rights and community service. He resides in Maryland with his wife and three children.

The goal of NVBDC’s National Veteran Matchmaking Conference 2023, is to bring together Supplier Diversity professionals and Veteran businesses in a face-to-face environment to provide procurement opportunities, business relationships, and education opportunities. NVBDC is excited to host Vets Night Out with Corporate Member Sponsor Beam Suntory on their properties at “The Kitchen”. The event maintains a fun relaxed environment where supplier professionals and veteran business owners can network with one another. LTC (Ret) Scott Mann, author of Operation Pineapple Express, will be in attendance as the Vets Night Out guest speaker.
About LTC (Ret) Scott Mann
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Scott Mann is a former U.S. Army Green Beret with tours all over the world including Colombia, Iraq, and multiple tours in Afghanistan.
