10.3 Lakh student and 1.65 Lakh teachers participated from 52 Districts of Madhya Pradesh
Sehore, MP, January 16, 2024: Marico Limited’s Nihar Shanti Pathshala Funwala (NSPF) hosted the fifth edition of ‘Word Power Championship’ in Sehore, in association with Leap for word. The competition witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 10.3 lakh students and 1.65 lakh teachers from government schools across Madhya Pradesh. Of which 24 students qualified for state-level round organised in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. Overall, the Word Power Championship program registered a participation of over 16 lakh students and 2.5 lakh teacher.

The event was graced by eminent personalities such asDhanaraju S (IAS), Director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Madhya Pradesh, R Uma maheshwari (IAS), Additional Mission Director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Sanjay Patwa, Joint Director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Madhya Pradesh and Mr. Arpit Gupta (IAS), Asst. Collector, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, and Mr. Ashish Tiwari, (IAS), District CEO, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.

The Word Power championship state-level stage had four rounds on reading, spelling, and vocabulary and saw a spirited competition between the participants from 194 schools among students from Class 2, 3, 4 and 5. 208 students qualified for semifinal round, of which 24 qualified for the finale state level round. Prizes Awarded
Through the Word Power Championship, NSPF aims to uplift English proficiency in regional language schools of Madhya Pradesh, and it trains teachers with techniques and lesson plans to teach English effectively using Hindi as the medium of instruction. The first-of-its-kind competition with schools across predominately Hindi-speaking states has helped students gain confidence in English.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Bhasin, Chief Legal Officer & Group General Counsel and Secretary, CSR Committee, Marico Limited said, “Over the years, Nihar Shanti Pathshala Funwala, has been a beacon of positive change for students, fostering access to quality education and innovative learning solutions. Further, Dhanaraju S (IAS), Director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Madhya Pradesh added, “Competition is one of the strong mediums that encourage children to move forward in their careers. It arouses curiosity in the students and the desire to do something new and good. I am happy that Marico Ltd’s NSPF – Word Power Championship has motivated children to learn new skills, resulting in increased participation from across the state every year.”

Addressing the students on the final day, R Ummaheshwari (IAS), Additional Mission Director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Madhya Pradesh said, “This competition has created a lot of enthusiasm among the children. And I would like the children to move towards their goals with more hard work and dedication next year.”
