Jasper County Farm Bureau and local Farm Bureau insurance agents recently helped a Grays family in need after a house fire with a $1,000 donation

Jasper County Farm Bureau and local Farm Bureau Insurance agents are helping to bring a little more joy to the holiday season by helping those in the community facing financial or medical hardships.

The local office in Jasper County donated $1,000 this year to Brandee Meyer, a local mother who lost all of her belongings on Oct. 12 in a house fire.

“We at Farm Bureau Insurance are community-minded especially during the Christmas holidays and are happy to be able to give back to families just like Brandee’s,” Marty Sauls, agency manager of Farm Bureau Insurance in Jasper, said.

The donation is part of a company-sponsored holiday community outreach program called Farm Bureau Cares. Through Farm Bureau Cares, county Farm Bureau offices across South Carolina provide monetary donations during December to help a family or charity of their choice.

Sauls said Meyer was selected after losing her entire home and all of her possessions in the fire. Meyer was living at the home in Grays with her daughter, who is expecting a baby Dec. 25.

Each local donation made by the county Farm Bureau and local agents is matched by Farm Bureau Insurance. Since its inception, more than $200,000 has been distributed statewide through Farm Bureau Cares to charitable organizations and individuals, according to a Farm Bureau Cares press release.
