The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has been recognized for its outstanding performance in the field of healthcare by receiving the 2023 State Government Health Insurance Scheme of the Year Award from the Nigeria HealthCare Excellence Award.

Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, the General Manager of LASHMA, expressed her gratitude to the Nigeria HealthCare Excellence Award for acknowledging the efforts of the Lagos State Government and LASHMA with this prestigious award.
She emphasized that LASHMA is committed to achieving the mandate of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) set by the Lagos State Government, ensuring that no one, including the vulnerable, is left behind.

Dr. Zamba also acknowledged the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his unwavering support towards LASHMA and his dedication to realizing UHC in the state.
She attributed the success of LASHMA to the collective contributions of the enrollees and health providers under the Lagos State Social Health Insurance Scheme.
Criteria for Winning the Award:
Mr. Oladapo Rasheed Olawale, a member of the Advisory Board for the Nigeria Healthcare Excellence Award, congratulated LASHMA on their achievement.
He explained that LASHMA was chosen as the recipient of the award based on several criteria.
These included the number of new enrollees or the percentage increase in new enrollees, the introduction of new health financing packages and models, the geographical distribution of enrollees within the state, the percentage of citizens registered with the State Health Insurance program, and the implementation of an automated health insurance platform for access and management.

Recognition of Key Officials:
Several key officials from LASHMA were present at the award ceremony, including Comrade Olurotimi Awojide, a Board Member, Mrs. Olufunke Longe, the Director of Admin and Human Resource, Mr. Olatunji Rotimi, Head of Business Development, Mr. Sefiu Oladejo, Head of ICT, and Mrs. Aramide Ojo, Head of Finance.
