Kalaburagi: Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation has insured its employees with premium free accident insurance scheme. Any accidental death of the employee during the service will be eligible for Rs 1.2 crore. Speaking to TOI, KKRTC MD M Rachappa said, on Thursday, a MoU was signed with the Union Bank of India in the presence of transport minister Ramalinga Reddy in Bengaluru. He said if any employee of KKRTC meets with an accident, on duty or off duty, the employee’s dependents will get a substantial amount. Employees with permanent or partial permanent disability will also be eligible for upto Rs 1 crore. He said there are total 18,500 employees are working in KKRTC right now, of which 3,000 employees have their salary accounts at Union Bank of India and if the remaining employees can get this benefit,if they shift their salary account to Union Bank. They should fill the application which will be provided by the KKRTC, and they will be eligible for the said policy. TNN

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has requested Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri to absorb displaced families and employees of JBF Petrochemicals Ltd into GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd. The MP stressed the legal obligation to employ project displaced families as per the government’s R&R policy. Despite clarifications, GAIL proposed open recruitment, causing concerns among the displaced families. The MP also highlighted the need to consider the non-PDF employees who lost their jobs during the takeover. He urged the minister to instruct GMPL authorities to recruit all employees affected by the land acquisition for the Mangalore Special Economic Zone.

Contractor kills his employee after spat over low salary
A contractor has been detained for killing his employee, Shahrukh Khan, after a fight over salary. Shahrukh, a PoP designer, confronted the accused, Sarfraz, for not paying him well. Sarfaraz used a heavy object to attack Shahrukh, resulting in his death. Shahrukh’s family identified his body after it was found by the police. Sarfaraz has confessed to the crime and is under investigation for murder.
