John Crane signs three-year reliability deal with Saudi phosphate producer

India, October 27, 2026: John Crane has secured a three-year Managed Reliability Programme with a major phosphate mining and fertiliser producer in Saudi Arabia, aiming to enhance equipment reliability, reduce recurring failures, and strengthen maintenance capabilities across the customer’s mining and processing operations.

The agreement will see John Crane provide dedicated on-site technical support, a planned onsite workshop, and technical training for the customer’s maintenance teams. The programme is structured to deliver more predictable mechanical seal overhaul costs and improve equipment performance, with the goal of minimising unplanned maintenance and building long-term technical capabilities at the site.

Onsite support and training

John Crane will deploy specialist technical and service resources to the customer’s remote operations, enabling maintenance teams to access expertise directly. The company will assist in identifying reliability issues, implementing recommendations, and addressing recurring mechanical seal problems to foster a proactive maintenance approach.

A fixed fee for mechanical seal overhaul services is included in the agreement, providing the customer with greater visibility into maintenance costs over the three-year term and supporting more predictable budgeting.

Workshop and knowledge transfer

The programme includes the establishment of an onsite workshop operated by John Crane, bringing mechanical seal maintenance closer to the customer’s remote sites. Training and knowledge transfer initiatives are planned to strengthen the customer’s technical capability, enabling teams to identify problems and implement practical reliability improvements.

Sector relevance and future expansion

The customer operates across phosphate mining and fertiliser production, sectors that are significant for agricultural supply chains in India and globally. Reliable production and continuity in fertiliser supply are important for food security, given the reliance on phosphate-based fertilisers and imported raw materials.

Hani Attia, General Manager, Saudi Arabia & Bahrain, John Crane, said the programme is designed to help maintenance teams address issues earlier and reduce recurring failures, while the fixed fee structure and training will support more consistent operations over the long term.

The agreement follows equipment surveys to validate the installed base and identify maintenance needs. John Crane said the contract extends its reliability services into the mining sector and may be expanded to other mining operations in Saudi Arabia under the strategic partnership agreement.
