Companies call for a new tax to spread the cost of insuring the risk

Insurance companies have warned of their concerns about householders using demountable flood defences to protect their homes in the wake of storms last year, according to documents obtained under Freedom of Information (FOI).
They also believe government departments should work more closely with insurers to examine solutions which would help thousands of home and business owners at risk of flood damage every year.
