Receiving the award, Lt Gen Harpal Singh, Engineer-in-Chief, Indian Armed Forces, emphasised on the necessity to incorporate new applied sciences and sustainability into engineering and building. Lt Gen Singh, an alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers on December 24, 1982. In his acceptance speech, Awanish Awasthi highlighted the alternatives that Uttar Pradesh presents to the event of the nation. “We, in Uttar Pradesh, have seen a dream and a vision of potential far beyond today.
