Imarticus Learning and IIT Kanpur launch ‘Future Skills for Bharat’ certificate programmes

Mumbai, October 14, 2026: Imarticus Learning, in association with E&ICT Academy, IIT Kanpur under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), has launched ‘Future Skills for Bharat’, a portfolio of industry-focused certificate programmes aimed at equipping undergraduate students across India with skills for emerging roles in technology and finance.

The initiative opens with two programmes—AI Engineering & Infrastructure and AI for Finance—now accepting enrolments. Additional courses in EV Technology and FinTech & Digital Finance are set to follow, with further sector-specific offerings planned throughout the year.

Sectors and skills targeted

The Future Skills for Bharat portfolio is structured around sectors driving India’s growth, including AI engineering, AI infrastructure, data centres, semiconductors, embedded engineering, robotics, drones, aerotech, spacetech, electronics manufacturing, and fintech. The initial AI Engineering & Infrastructure programme covers topics such as large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agents, APIs, containers, cloud, GPUs, and responsible AI, while AI for Finance focuses on AI-assisted analysis, forecasting, credit risk, fraud detection, and investment research, with no coding background required.

Upcoming programmes will address electric vehicle systems—including battery packs, battery management systems, motors, power electronics, thermal management, charging infrastructure, and vehicle software—as well as the systems, economics, and regulatory frameworks behind India Stack, UPI, digital lending, WealthTech, and RegTech.

Programme structure and eligibility

Each course in the portfolio is delivered through a 60-hour, two-month live learning format, combining structured modules, four IIT/NIT faculty masterclasses, and three guided projects. Capstone-level work is included, with projects such as deploying an AI model as a working service, configuring an AI finance assistant, designing a 40 kWh battery pack for an electric bus, or building a UPI transaction dashboard. These are intended to provide students with demonstrable work for internships and placements.

The programmes are primarily designed for BTech students across branches such as Mechanical, Electrical, ECE, and CS/IT, but select courses—including AI for Finance and FinTech & Digital Finance—are also open to BCom, BBA, and other commerce undergraduates. Learners who complete the requirements will receive a programme completion certificate under the E&ICT Academy, IIT Kanpur. The certificate does not confer an IIT degree, diploma, or alumni status.

Industry and academic perspectives

Nikhil Barshikar, Founder & CEO of Imarticus Learning, said the new portfolio aims to address the evolving job market, stating, “Every employer we work with is hiring for AI and electric mobility roles that didn’t exist when today’s final-year students picked their branch. In just four years, the job description has changed underneath them. Future Skills for Bharat is built to close that gap.”

Dr. ARKS Srinivas, Joint Academic Coordinator, EICTA – IIT Kanpur, commented, “The next decade will belong to engineers who understand how AI actually works, not only how to use it. These programmes open up the full stack from model to datacenter and give students the grounding to build the infrastructure behind India’s AI ambitions rather than simply operate on top of it.”

India-first context and future plans

All programmes are designed with an India-first context, incorporating elements such as UPI and India Stack, EV charging and domestic mobility conditions, and regulatory frameworks from RBI and SEBI. Enrolments for AI Engineering & Infrastructure and AI for Finance are now open, with EV Technology and FinTech & Digital Finance to be introduced subsequently.
