Hyderabad, October 29, 2026: Two Hyderabad-based entrepreneurs, Neha Rajgarhia and Radhika Jalan, are reshaping spiritual tourism in India through their venture NR TravelBuddyz, which has organised around 27 journeys for over 1,000 participants since its founding in 2024.
The duo, known as the ‘Banaras Girls’ for their more than 20 trips to Varanasi, aim to make religious travel more accessible and engaging, especially for women, senior citizens, and younger travellers seeking a blend of spirituality, heritage, and culture.
Curated journeys for diverse travellers
NR TravelBuddyz has taken groups to destinations including the Kumbh Mela, Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Kolkata, focusing on curated itineraries that combine religious significance with cultural exploration. The founders emphasise that their approach is designed to appeal to different generations by integrating local history, cuisine, and traditions alongside visits to sacred sites.
“We identified a gap for well-curated group journeys that allow people to experience India’s spiritual destinations comfortably and meaningfully. Many travellers want to visit these places but prefer someone to take care of the planning, arrangements and overall experience. That is the need we set out to address,” said Rajgarhia and Jalan.
Focus on accessibility for women and seniors
The venture caters to a mix of couples, senior citizens, and younger, unmarried participants, with an emphasis on organised arrangements and manageable travel durations. The founders highlight the importance of thoughtful planning and clear communication, particularly for older travellers and women travelling independently, to make spiritual travel more approachable.
Integrating faith, culture and tourism
NR TravelBuddyz’s recent programme, AMAARMONI – Shubho Puja 2026: Celebrating the Spirit of Bengal, took 30 participants to Kolkata from October 12 to 14. The itinerary included visits to Durga Puja pandals, traditional welcomes, Bengali music and dance, Sindoor Khela, a Bengali sit-down lunch, and exploration of local handicrafts and products. Kolkata’s Durga Puja was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2021.
The founders believe that such experiences, which combine religious events with cultural immersion, can benefit local tourism businesses, artisans, and vendors while offering travellers a deeper understanding of India’s traditions.
Building a niche in spiritual travel
Since its inception in 2024, NR TravelBuddyz has focused on understanding the varied expectations of travellers, from devotion to heritage and companionship. The venture continues to develop its model of experiential spiritual travel, aiming to help people experience India’s sacred destinations through both places and the traditions and communities encountered along the way.
