Mumbai, October 16, 2026: HDFC Asset Management Company Limited (HDFC AMC), investment manager to HDFC Mutual Fund, marked the listing of the HDFC FTSE India Equity ETF on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) with a bell-ringing ceremony in Mumbai on Thursday.
The event was attended by Navneet Munot, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HDFC AMC; Nico Boulay, Head of Asia at FTSE Russell; and Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NSE, all of whom delivered keynote addresses.
ETF tracks FTSE India Equity Index
The HDFC FTSE India Equity ETF is an open-ended scheme that replicates or tracks the FTSE India Equity Index (TRI). The underlying index aims to broadly represent India’s equity markets, covering about 90% of the market capitalisation of the FTSE India All Cap Index.
Diversified, rules-based investment approach
According to HDFC AMC, the ETF provides investors an opportunity to participate in India’s long-term growth through a diversified and rules-based investment strategy. The fund is designed to offer disciplined and transparent exposure to the country’s listed equity universe.
Focus on passive investment solutions
Navneet Munot, Managing Director and CEO of HDFC AMC, said India’s capital markets have seen significant transformation in the past decade, with increased market depth and investor engagement. “As the opportunity set within the equity market continues to broaden, investors are increasingly seeking solutions that provide diversified exposure to the country’s growth drivers through a disciplined and transparent investment framework. The HDFC FTSE India Equity ETF seeks to address this need by providing investors access to a broad representation of India’s listed equity universe through a rules-based index strategy, enabling participation in the long-term evolution of the Indian economy and capital markets,” Munot said.
The listing is part of HDFC Mutual Fund’s ongoing efforts to expand its range of passive investment products and offer investors more options to access India’s capital markets.
HDFC AMC is one of India’s largest mutual fund managers, incorporated in 1999 and approved by SEBI as an asset management company in 2000. The company manages a diversified asset mix across equity and fixed income, with a nationwide branch and distribution network.
