Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards will travel to London Wednesday to meet with business and insurance leaders.

On Thursday, Edwards plans to meet with representatives of Lloyd’s of London, the most important reinsurance underwriter on the worldwide market, to focus on Louisiana’s insurance disaster. Since a flurry of main hurricanes courting again to 2020, Louisiana has misplaced 9 house insurers. Lloyd’s is commonly the go-to underwriter for insurance corporations that take these insurance policies.

The governor plans to focus on legislative and regulatory modifications that may make the state extra enticing to insurers and reinsurers and the way the danger modeling Lloyd’s makes use of in its insurance market impacts the state.

“Few states are more directly impacted by the insurance underwriting and energy markets than Louisiana, which is why it’s so important to maintain an open dialogue with global leaders in those sectors,” Edwards stated in a press release. “Thousands of Louisianans are not only still recovering from damage caused by devastating storms, but they are also dealing with unpaid claims, insurance companies folding, and problems finding new insurance coverage. We must find a way to solve this crisis.”

On Friday, Edwards will meet with corporations which have invested in Louisiana’s power transition efforts.

Edwards may even attend the New Orleans Saints game Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London towards the Minnesota Vikings. The Saints are 1-1 of their two earlier video games performed in London.
