‘The New Gen will get information about Indian history through this Light & Sound show: said Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Dy. CM, Maharashtra
Gateway of India will showcase the multimedia Light & Sound show every weekend, from now onwards.
Mumbai: As part of Amrit Mahotsav of India’s independence and completion of 75 years of withdrawal of the British army from India, the ‘Multimedia Light and Sound show, was inaugurated recently by Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra. On the occasion, Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, conveyed his best wishes through video message.
Also present on the occasion, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Tourism, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Women & Child Development; Manukumar Srivastava, Ch. Secretary, Government of Maharashtra; Saurabh Vijay, Principal Secretary Tourism Department, Government of Maharashtra; Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman, IndianOil, and V Satish Kumar, Director (Marketing), IndianOil.
The programme commenced with the Navy band playing the National Anthem and the Maharastra Geet.
“Gateway of India is one of the major tourist attractions in Mumbai. IndianOil has played an important role in organizing this show. Through this programme, the new generation will learn about Maharashtra’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle, said Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra. He also complimented Directorate of Tourism for executing this project within record time and urged them to ensure that the show maintains its novelty in years to come.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman, IndianOil, said, “IndianOil is connected with each & every Indian. During the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in the country, it is a matter of pride for IndianOil to be associated with this unique outreach programme at Gateway of India. Going beyond business, the Corporation is committed to the protecting and preserving the ecosystem that it operates in.
Commemorating 75 years of the departure of the Somerset Light Infantry, the last British troops to leave Indian Soil from Mumbai, on 28th Feb 1948, the launch today has become a flagship event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
This multimedia show is a joint initiative of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. & Directorate of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra to restore the glory of the iconic Gateway of India by launching a permanent Multimedia Light and Sound show here.
The narrative of the Multimedia Light & sound at the Iconic Gateway of India broadly covers:
- The glorious life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
- India’s freedom movement and contribution of Maharashtra in India’s independence.
- Glimpses of progressive India
- Highlighting the Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal, as a vision for next 25 years, as laid by the Honorable PM Shri Narendra Modi
Employing innovative projection technology synchronized with intelligent lighting and Laser, this integrated show will showcase the story of Maharashtra’s valor and India’s progressions as never seen before. This is one of the first time ever in India, that along with the existing façade, movable props are being used for creating multi-dimensional and multilayered experience.
This is also a unique permanent installation that shall be using the additional rolled-in screens for the projection along with the façade. All three arches of the Gateway of India will have these rolled in screens positioned just before the start of the show.
Apart from the daily shows in all three languages -Marathi, Hindi & English, there is provision of multilingual translation in Japanese, German, French, and Russian through headsets device as well.
