Duiba’s AI short drama unit posts first profit with 45.8 billion Q3 views

Hong Kong, October 15, 2026: Duiba Group (01753.HK) reported that its AI short drama business achieved profitability in the third quarter of 2026, posting net profit for July, August and September, according to a voluntary announcement released on October 14.

The company said the figures are based on unaudited consolidated management accounts for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, and reflect management’s preliminary assessment.

Q3 views surge to 45.8 billion

Duiba’s AI short drama unit recorded incremental views of 6.8 billion in July, 12.6 billion in August and 26.4 billion in September, for a third-quarter total exceeding 45.8 billion. September views rose 107% from August, marking the third consecutive month of triple-digit month-on-month growth. For comparison, the first half of 2026 saw just over 5 billion views, with the third quarter alone generating more than nine times that amount. September’s view count was more than five times the total for the first half.

Content metrics and hit titles

In the third quarter, 22 titles surpassed 100 million incremental views in July, 25 in August and 32 in September. Titles exceeding 10 million views numbered 89, 155 and 172 in the respective months. On average, about 4.6% of titles topped 100 million views in the quarter, peaking at 5.7% in a single month.

The company attributed these results to its use of AI throughout content development, production and distribution. Duiba said each production unit can manage the entire workflow — from script analysis and storyboard breakdown to character generation, scene matching and final output — with a single person. Its proprietary scriptwriting agent reportedly increases output per screenwriter by five to eight times, and the standardized process can be replicated across teams.

Revenue share and profitability

Duiba’s internal management reporting showed profitability in each of the three months through September, with revenue growth accelerating during the quarter. For the first half of 2026, the AI short drama segment generated revenue of RMB 223 million, accounting for 51.2% of group revenue and surpassing the company’s traditional interactive advertising business as the largest revenue contributor.

The company previously indicated that economies of scale were expected as the business expanded. Duiba said three consecutive months of profit suggest that content capacity and cost control are reinforcing each other, as the unit transitions from an investment phase to scaled commercial returns. The company added that overseas applications and a WeChat Mini Program business, if launched, could further expand its market share.

Outlook for scalable growth

Duiba stated that the rapid increase in views, continued growth in hit dramas, and three months of profitability in the third quarter demonstrate that its AI short drama business is establishing an operating foundation for scalable growth. As the AI short drama industry enters a period of rapid expansion, Duiba said its accumulated advantages in production efficiency and content quality are expected to support further development and deliver long-term value.
