Indian climber Anurag Maloo, who was miraculously rescued after falling into a deep crevasse on Mount Annapurna in Nepal, is likely to be flown from Mediciti Hospital in Kathmandu to Delhi for further treatment.

“He is still on ventilator support despite being stable, and his urine output has increased. But frostbite and the resultant gangrene will require long-duration treatment. He will be flown to Delhi at the family’s request,” hospital sources said Monday.

“Maloo’s family members are busy settling some administrative and insurance issues, and they are likely to take Maloo as soon as that is over by today or tomorrow,” sources added.

Maloo, 34, a resident of Kishangarh in Rajasthan, went missing on April 17 after he fell from 5,800 metres while descending from Camp III on Mount Annapurna, the 10th highest mountain in the world, known for its treacherous terrain.

An acclaimed mountaineer, Maloo had survived in the avalanche-prone crevasse for three days till he was located and rescued by a team of eight persons dispatched by Seven Summit Treks.

He was first flown to Manipal Hospital in Pokhara and then to Mediciti Hospital in Kathmandu.
