New Delhi. In a recent case, a State Bank of India (SBI) customer named Neeraj Punia complained that his savings account was debited for insurance without his consent. This incident is part of a larger trend where bank customers are experiencing unauthorized deductions from their savings accounts.
Punia took to social media to express his frustration, stating, “I have not given permission or signed any form, yet my account has been debited for insurance. How can you debit any account without the customer’s permission?”
In response to Punia’s tweet, SBI clarified that choosing insurance or any other investment is completely optional. They emphasized that customer consent is vital, and no transactions are made in a customer’s account without their permission. SBI also highlighted that insurance or investment is not mandatory to avail any of their services.
