Mumbai, October 26, 2026: Blue Energy Motors, in partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), has launched Bhiwandi’s first battery-swapping station for electric heavy-duty trucks, further strengthening the Mumbai–Pune Electric Freight Corridor.
The new facility, located in one of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s major logistics and warehousing hubs, enables battery swaps for Blue Energy Motors’ electric heavy-duty trucks in under five minutes. The station is designed to minimise charging downtime and enhance fleet utilisation, supporting the growing adoption of electric mobility in freight transport.
Facility integrates public EV charging
In addition to serving electric trucks, the Bhiwandi station incorporates a public EV charging facility, catering to electric two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and commercial vehicles. This integration creates a multi-segment EV energy hub within HPCL’s retail network, extending the station’s relevance beyond freight operations.
Key executives inaugurate new station
The battery-swapping station was inaugurated by Rajiv Singh, Chief Business Officer of Blue Energy Motors; Kushal Banarjee, Chief General Manager Strategy & BD at HPCL; and Jayesh Shelar, Chief Marketing Officer of Blue Energy Motors. The launch marks a significant milestone in the partnership between Blue Energy Motors and HPCL, which began in January 2026.
Supporting electric freight transition
Anand Mimani, CEO – EV & New Energy Business at Blue Energy Motors, said the partnership with HPCL aims to make electric freight practical and scalable in India. “Bhiwandi, with its strong freight and logistics activity, is an important market for us. This first facility is a meaningful step forward, and we look forward to expanding our network of battery-swapping and charging facilities across key markets, supporting electric trucking and serving the wider EV ecosystem,” Mimani said.
Blue Energy Motors operates over 1,400 green heavy-duty trucks across key freight routes in India and has surpassed 150 million green kilometres, resulting in a reduction of more than 44,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, according to the company.
HPCL expands EV infrastructure
HPCL, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, operates more than 25,000 retail outlets across India. Under the HP e-Charge brand, HPCL has established a network of over 5,800 EV charging stations and more than 150 battery-swapping stations nationwide, as part of its efforts to support India’s energy transition and clean mobility objectives.
