Vladon Shuti, of London Road, Hadleigh, was caught driving a Nissan Note without insurance on the A127 in Basildon on January 24 last year.
Shuti was also using a phone behind the wheel at the time.
The offences were proven in his absence on September 9 and, on March 16 at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, he was fined £600.
He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £60 and costs of £110.
The 29-year-old was handed a 6-month driving ban.
