China’s state-run basic medical insurance funds, including maternity insurance, collected a total revenue of over CNY1.63tn ($227bn) in the first half of this year, representing an increase of 7.6% year on year, data from the National Healthcare Security Administration show.
The revenue of basic medical insurance funds for urban employees, including maternity insurance, stood at CNY1.1tn in 1H2023, an increase of 11.2% from the same period last year, reported Xinhua News Agency citing the data.
The revenue of basic medical insurance funds for rural and non-working urban residents was around CNY530.25bn, a 0.7% increase year on year.
Data showed that the expenditure of the basic medical insurance funds jumped by 18.2% year on year to CNY1.3tn for the first half of this year.
