
An officer kills a person to claim Rs 7 Cr insurance money
Pakyong, 19 Jan: A government official in Telangana has been arrested for an elaborate scheme to collect insurance money by faking his own death. The Assistant Section Officer, who was facing significant financial losses, concocted a plan with his wife and relatives to kill a man resembling him and then fake his death to collect the insurance funds. The group had purchased 25 insurance policies worth over 7 crore rupees, and staged the death by burning a car with the body of the murdered man inside. However, police investigations revealed the ASO was still alive, leading to his arrest along with four accomplices.
The plan of the government official and his accomplices was to kill a person resembling him in order to claim the insurance money. He had purchased 25 insurance policies worth over Rs 7 crore in his name over the past year, as per the police. When a charred body was found in a burned car in a gorge on the outskirts of Venkatapur village, the police investigated the case as a suspicious death. Initially, the government employee was believed to be the deceased person, as per the ID card found in the bag. But later on, the investigations revealed that he faked his own death to claim insurance amount, and police arrested him and four others, including his wife and two relatives.
The investigation revealed that the employee was still alive, and that he had faked his death to claim the insurance money. As a result, the police arrested him along with four other accomplices, including his wife and two relatives. On January 8, the ASO and another accused approached a man near Nizamabad railway station, and made him shave his head and wear the officer’s clothes, before taking him to Venkatapur village. The ASO then poured gasoline both inside and outside the car, and asked the man to sit in the front seat. When the man refused, they attacked him with an axe and sticks, killed him, and put his body in the car before setting it on fire, according to police.
