AIIA is organising Jeevaneeyam 23 for the development of integrative protocol for cancer

New Delhi: Considering the need of integration in cancer management, Center for Integrative Oncology (CIO) of AllA is organizing a six-days National Workshop Jeevaneeyam from Sept 4 to 6 and 11th to 13 sept. for the development of integrative protocol for management of cancer”. This is now being taken up in continuum to revise and update the blueprints developed based on the previous workshop conducted in 2020. In the 6-day long workshop, each day is being dedicated exclusively for the discussion and finalization of protocol pertaining to one single cancer taking suggestions from domain experts including allopathic and Ayurveda practitioners.

Dr Shalini Singh Director, ICMR-NICPR Noida was the Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony. Present at the occasion were Dr. Umesh Tagade: JD, Deans, resource persons and other senior faculty members of AIIA Delhi. Dr. V.H Huddar of CIO is the coordinator, Dr Shivani Ghildiyal and Dr Richa Tripath are the Co- coordinator for the workshop.

The purpose of the National workshop is to prepare potential integrated protocol for cancer care and research, also to explore the trends of understanding the principles and practice in cancer management through Ayurveda.

14+ experts from different parts of the country is participating in a six-day National Workshop on “Development of an Integrative Protocol for Cancer Care” is a good approach. The cases of cancer are increasing day by day and its treatment is also very essential. Jeevaneeyam 2023 will refine the protocol developed using the inputs of Jeevaneeyam 2020 workshop and it will serve as preliminary reference documents for clinical practise of Ayurveda oncology.” Said Prof. (Dr) Tanuja Nesari, Director AIIA.

It has been reported that more than 70% of people seeking conventional cancer treatment are seeking services from traditional and complementary systems of medicines such as AYUSH. Many AYUSH practitioners across the country are practicing integrated oncology with remarkable results, their services extending from chemoprophylaxis to chemo- or radio-adjuvant therapy extending up to prevention of recurrence. However, there is a need to consolidate the scattered practices and arrive at a consensus regarding the extent of integration possible at each level. This would further help to identify the core areas of research to yield maximal outcomes.

The outcome which will come from experts who are clinicians, surgical, oncologists will help millions. Many institute like ICMR, NICPR, NIC-AIIMS, Manipal Hospital Dwaraka, etc are participating in this workshop,” said Prof. (Dr.) Jonah, HOD Kayachikitsa department, AIIA.

The workshop will lead to the development of specialized integrative protocol, the outcome of the workshop will be a useful Information, education about the trends of Ayurvedic cancer practice in India. These protocols are intended to give a basic idea/direction to cancer practitioners for integrate approach in different cancerous conditions
