Mumbai, November 6, 2019: National Stock Exchange of India in collaboration with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, GoI  is organizing a day long Conclave on the Development of the Municipal Bond Market in India on November 7, 2019. Secretary Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs – Durga Shanker Mishra will be gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest to the event. He will be addressing the gathering and sharing Government of India’s perspective on transforming Urban India as well as the importance of financially empowering our municipal bodies to mobilise funds for improving urban infrastructure.

This Conference will provide a unique platform for Municipal bodies, Urban Local Bodies, Investors, Arrangers, Credit rating Agencies, International and Finance Experts and other Market Participants to discuss the potential challenges in the development of Municipal Bond Market in India and the way forward for creating a conducive municipal bond ecosystem. Over 60 plus municipal corporations from across India, including both upcoming and past issuers have been invited to the event and sharing their experiences.

The event will include  detailed presentation on the issuance process for municipal bonds, current market scenario, key takeaways from past muni bond issuances and guidance towards successful issuance and listing  of upcoming Municipal Bonds. Shri Mishra will also chair panel discussion constituting past issuers, upcoming issuers and senior representatives from SEBI, Credit Rating Agencies, Arrangers, Investors, ICAI and the Exchange. The post lunch deliberations will focus on the structuring, credit rating, accrual accounting and fund raising aspects of the municipal bonds for aspirational Muncipal bodies for issue of muni bonds in future.
